Democracy Counts celebrates its founder receiving ‘Outstanding Entrepreneur’ award
Warrington based innovative electoral services company Democracy Counts is celebrating the title of ‘Outstanding Entrepreneur’ being awarded to its founder, Simon Verdon, in the 2020 Global Business Excellence Awards.
Established in 2009, Democracy Counts is a leading provider of state of the art electoral management software, support services and training to the UK Government and local authorities across England, Scotland and Wales - as well as managed referendums and ballot services to public, private and community organisations.
Making the award, the Chairman of the Judges, Mike Tobin OBE, said:
“Entrepreneur Simon Verdon is a game-changer who was the first to introduce new technology into the electoral voting system. One of his early ground-breaking tools was to protect postal votes against fraud through a verification system. He’s delivered important systems that allow for the implementation of electoral legislation, and he’s notably innovated with tablet technology for canvassers so they can collect key data from voters at the doorstep. Congratulations to Simon and Democracy Counts for bringing the rather staid electoral business into the modern digital world.”
