Votes for Young People
Democracy Counts are keen supporters of engagement of participation for young voters. They have compelling evidence based on practical experience during Union Terrace Gardens referendum in 2012 that lowering the voting age to 16 as well as offering online channels of communication drive up turnout. In the Scottish Independence referendum, Turnout reached 84% after 16 and 17 year olds were allowed to vote.
We are keen supporters of Youth Councils (read a case study here) and are keen contributors to the Parliamentary debate on digital democracy , where our contribution can be found here http://www.parliament.uk/business/commons/the-speaker/speakers-commission-on-digital-democracy/publications/written-evidence/
If you want to engage with your community of young people, we have the tools, skills and experience to help you so please talk to us.
